TRANSIENT CIRCUITS (RC and RL)

learned this today. difficult but try the best. #prayforhazixhamid.THE SOURCE-FREE RC AND RL CIRCUITSA source-free RC circuit occurs when its dc source is suddenly disconnected. The energy already stored in the capacitor is  released to the resistors. Figure 6.1 shows a series combination ofa resistor and an initially charged capacitorThe voltage response of the source-free RC circuit is                                                   Since the response is due to the initial energy stored and the physical characteristics of the circuit and not due to some external voltage or current source, it is called the natural response of the circuit.

This implies that at , where τ is time constantOr                                 τ = RCSo,
The Source-Free RL CircuitConsider the series connection of a resistor and an  inductor, as shown in Figure 6.4. Our goal is to determine the circuit response, which will assume to be the currenti(t) through the inductor.The current response of the source-free RL circuit is                                                           time constant for the RL circuit isThus, equation (6.5) may be written as  @hazixhamidmanufacturing engineering designKOLEJ KEMAHIRAN TINGGI MARA KUANTAN.

FUNDAMENTAL LAW

2.1 OHM’S LAWS
Ohm's law is the main basic electrical law and defines the resistance of a device to the flow of electrons.The voltage across a resistor is directly proportional to the current through it.
                           V α I

The constant of proportionality is called Resistance measured in ohms (W).

I = the circuit current (A)
V = the applied voltage (V)
R  = the resistance (W )

The resistance R of an element denotes its ability to resist the flow of electric current. It is measured in ohms (W).To apply Ohm’s Law:  1. Be careful to the current direction and voltage polarity.  2. The direction of I and the polarity of Voltage, v must   conform with the passive sign convention.
